TMS stats
These stat posts tend to get a little long, so I’m going to just list the highlights. I’ll list the chasers this week by average finish starting with the lowest, and then throw in a few other stat standouts. The brackets after the name show (Average Finish / Number of Starts). No one has more than one win here, so one win is an accomplishment at TMS.
- Denny Hamlin: (5.5 / 2) 1 T5, 2 T10, and 0 DNFs. Lowest amount of starts.
- Jimmie Johnson: (7 / 6) Continues to impress with his stats. 83% T10s and 100% lead lap finishes.
- Dale Earnhardt Jr.: (10.8 / 8) 1 win to go with a high 75% T10’s.
- Matt Kenseth: (12.1 / 8) 1 win and a low 12.5% DNFs.
- Kevin Harvick: (13.4 / 7) only 2 top 10s, but 0 DNFs.
- Mark Martin: (13.5 / 11) 1 win, but lowest % lead lap finishes with 45%
- Jeff Burton: (17.5 / 11) 1 win, shares low 9.1% DNFs with Martin.
- Jeff Gordon: (17.5 / 11) nothing spectacular, all numbers are middle of the pack here.
- Kasey Kahne: (20 / 4) 50% T5’s (one of them a win) and 50% DNFs in 4 starts.
- Kyle Bush: (25.3 / 3) 0 T10’s, but 0 DNFs.
- Tony Stewart (13.4 / 9) has 66% T10’s and 2 DNFs, both for engine failure with less than 50 laps left.
- Greg Biffle (24.4 / 5) has lead 20% of the laps he’s turned here, but DNFs 40% of his races here.
- Kurt Bush (13.3 / 7) has 71% T10’s and no DNFs.
- Ken Schrader and Dale Jarrett have started all 11 races here, and have 0 DNFs.
- Ward Burton (20 / 8) should be back in the 4 car; 1 T10 and only 1 DNF.
- "Texas" Terry won this race back in 1999. I'd love to see him do well this Sunday for his last race at his home track. He is the consummate gentleman of the sport, and in my opinion THE example for every other driver to emulate. That goes for Tony and Robby.
- And for all of you defending Robby Gordon’s (28.8 / 6) talent in a stock car after my post from Atlanta; his best finish is 20th, laps led is 0, and not one finish on the lead lap. Better start writing his name on his uniform parts and loose items in the car, I smell a late race caution for debris.
- Make sure you take note that I always include stock car when mentioning the lack of Robby Gordon’s talent. I understand that his talent in other motor sport disciplines is exemplary, but as it says under StewartFan at the top, this page is nothing but NASCAR, and I try to keep it that way.
