Who's hot at LMS
If you think Jimmie Johnson owns all the numbers here, well, your almost right. In 11 starts he's got 10 top 10s and 5 wins. An average finish of 5.8 beats all the rest. He also has an average start here of 8.2, lowest of all active drivers. The one race he didn't finish in the top 10, he did not finish (DNF).
The only driver with multiple starts without a DNF is Carl Edwards. He's only started 4 races here, but he's finished every one on the lead lap with an average finish of 6th. No win to show for it, but been in position to win with two 3rd place finishes.
Other winners here include Martin (4 in 44 starts), Gordon (4 in 28 starts), and Jarret (3 in 40 starts (pre-Toyota)). Labonte, Burton, Kahne all have 2, but Kahne has done it with only 6 starts. Expect to see him riding the wall all night. Stewart, Kenseth, and McMurray all have one.
The lowest DNF average goes to Tony Stewart. He's only not finished 6% of his starts here. Jimmie's in second on this one with 9%. Robbie Gordon's best finish is 16th twice in 13 starts with DNFs in almost half of his races here. Somebody find this fine car owner a driver.
My pick? Tony Stewart of course. If you want a second opinion, you could use a hair cut. But if I had to pick another, I'd go with Mark Martin and that Chevy Mr. "Deep Pockets" Ginn puts underneath him every week. You can't count out the HMS guys any week (can you Race Chick), and this won't be any exception. My other prediction is the Bush Brothers will tangle again, and both loose.
